FAQ
WHO IS TRUTHISNOW?
TruhtIsNow is an NGO that provides a safe avenue for whistleblowers to share information with trusted journalists.
I AM A JOURNALIST. CAN I LEAK?
Yes, journalists often come across valuable information that they themselves cannot publish. We will find a way to publish if the submission is credible.
WHY SHOULD I LEAK?
According to some estimates, African countries are losing $50 billion annually due to illicit financial flows. Yet 100 million more Africans live in extreme poverty today compared to the 1990s. Information on unlawful activities by governments and corporations brings direct benefits to all African citizens.
WHAT SHOULD I LEAK?
We accept leaks related to high-level government corruption (e.g. procurement fraud), illegal corporate actions that damage the public domain (e.g. large bribes for government contracts) and significant human rights abuses (e.g. widespread police or military abuse).
WHAT HAPPENS AFTER I LEAK?
We will review the information you submit and follow up with any clarifying questions we may have. If the story seems credible and fits our criteria we will work to get the story published, but NEVER your identity. You will be paid once the story is successfully published.
HOW MUCH COMPENSATION WILL I RECEIVE?
We will pay a whistleblower anywhere between $200-$1000 for evidence or complete story. Compensation depends on the nature and scope of the information you provide. Additional funds can be negotiated for unique circumstances that require it.
HOW DO YOU PROTECT MY IDENTITY?
Protecting your anonymity is our number one priority. We never ask for your name and will only communicate with you through encrypted platforms. Your identity (if shared) or contact information will never be shared outside of our small core team. If you ever feel threatened, or we suspect you may be at risk, we will get in touch and help support you to best protect yourself.
